Hello friends,
For the past few years I've run this practice almost entirely on my own. That was a choice, and mostly a good one. It's let me spend my time where it matters: hands on dogs and horses, walking families through the hardest days, building the Sanctuary into something I'm genuinely proud of.
But I've reached the edge of what one person can hold. There are more people wanting this work than I can serve, projects I care deeply about that sit unfinished, and a book I wrote that deserves to find the people who need it. Not because I don't know what to do. Because there's one of me.
So I'm looking for help.
Specifically, a part-time operations person — ten to fifteen hours a week, working remotely, with a week spent here at the start so they can see this world firsthand. Someone to take on email, records, follow-ups, and the administrative side of the Sanctuary and dog park. Someone who spots a repetitive task and turns it into a system.
The right person is self-directed, warm with people who are having a very hard day, and genuinely comfortable being the one doing the work rather than directing others. Comfort with technology and AI tools is a real plus.
This is an independent contractor position, not employment. Thirty dollars an hour, ten to fifteen hours a week, invoiced monthly. You'd be responsible for your own taxes and insurance, as contractors are.
Fair warning: this is an uber-committed practice. If you're looking for any old job or some fast cash, this isn't it. No drama, no coasting. But if you want your skill genuinely appreciated — and to be the person who makes an invaluable difference every day you're working — you might be exactly who I'm looking for.
You may be that person. Or you may know exactly who is — a daughter, a neighbour, a friend who's been looking for something that means something. That's all I need to start a conversation.
With gratitude,
